How to find a lost cellphone? Need options for future reference - Software? GPS?
Please bear with me, I do not have the latest iphone or knowledge of the most current programs, but I would say I'm kindof a low level techie, I just need your help - what do you guys do when you lose your phone? To clarify, the phone has been found but I need to make sure it doesn't happen again. In the past I had often turned my phone on vibrate, I will try to start leaving it turned on loud but besides that I'm not sure what can be done. Not being an idiot isn't an option for me, so assuming I will probably set it down somewhere unusual and then have no idea where it is, how can I track it? I was reading about GPS tracking, that is appealing but I do not have a data plan. My phone is GPS enabled though I believe. Can I tap into that? If not, but I do get a data plan in the future then what is the best tracking software to get? Or if I'm not able to get a data plan, or its cost prohibitive then what are my options? Can I physically open up my phone and put some kind of electronic tracking device in it? Where would I buy something like that and how would it work to actually find it if the phone was lost again? there are shops that sell spy gadgets. most of them are pricey. better to find software solution.
